Disaster Response

Supporting the community

Catholic Charities Disaster Response Program has been established to meet the needs of the community before, during and after a disaster. The program does not replace services already available through the Red Cross, FEMA, county emergency, or any other government or private agency. Rather, it works collaboratively with those agencies to offer assistance when disaster strikes.

The Disaster Amateur Radio Network (DARN) provides emergency/back-up communications for Catholic Charities Disaster Response Teams. DARN assists relief workers through a group of UHF/VHF base radio stations located in Venice, Bradenton, Naples, Fort Myers, Arcadia, Port Charlotte and Sarasota. Click HERE to visit the DARN website.
