Fort Myers

The Venetian Charity Ball will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs. All proceeds will benefit the programs and services of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. in Lee, Hendry and Glades counties which include Positive Youth Development Program, Senior Support Coordination Program, Human Trafficking Victims Assistance, Immigration Services, food assistance and pantries, and direct assistance. The evening will include a cocktail hour, auctions, raffle, dinner and dancing. Tickets are $225 a person. For information call 239-337-4193 or email venetianball@ccslee.org.


Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. will offer a free First Time Homebuyer Class on Saturday, April 8 from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. in Spanish and Monday, April 24 and Tuesday, April 25 from 5 to 9 p.m. in English at the Catholic Charities office located at 1219 16th Street West in Bradenton.

Four topics to be covered include: Steps To Successful Home Ownership which includes funds available to first time homebuyers as well as fair housing rights; Winning Credit History/Shopping for a Loan which includes items required to make a loan contract, budget and money management, and the loan and application process; Shopping for a Home/Choosing a Realtor which includes what to know when looking for a home and realtor, understanding a sales contract, and negotiation and home inspection; and Home Ownership which includes what it means to be a home owner, how to care for your home and maintain it, security issues and avoiding foreclosure. 

Participants in the class will be eligible for assistance from Manatee and Sarasota counties bond and/or grant programs for down payment and closing costs. For more information and to register for the class, please call Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. in Manatee County at 941-714-7829.

Fort Myers

The Charity Golf Classic for AFCAAM, a program of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Forest Country Club in Fort Myers. All proceeds will benefit the programs available at AFCAAM which include the After-School Reading Program, and the SKILLS Female Mentoring and Straight Talk Male Mentoring programs. Registration is at noon and play begins at 1 p.m. The golf tournament will include a dinner and prizes. The cost is $150 per player.
