Make life easier for your neighbors in need with the Catholic Charities Summertime and the Giving is Easy appeal. Everyone deserves the feeling of a having enough food to eat, the warmth of a roof over head, the well-being of learning valuable skills, and the relief of knowing there is help to overcome your obstacles. Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. offers the people of Southwest Florida the means to move beyond poverty and achieve self-sufficiency. Give food, shelter, education and support this summer. You can provide the necessities to eager families and individuals yearning to obtain a better life. A total of 93 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to clients. The giving is easy!
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. will offer a free Homebuyer Education Workshop on Saturday, August 5 in English and Saturday, August 12 in Spanish from 8 a.m. until 5:35 p.m. and on Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in English at the Catholic Charities office located at 1219 16th Street West in Bradenton.
Four topics to be covered include: Steps To Successful Home Ownership which includes funds available to home buyers as well as fair housing rights; Winning Credit History/Shopping for a Loan which includes items required to make a loan contract, budget and money management, and the loan and application process; Shopping for a Home/Choosing a Realtor which includes what to know when looking for a home and realtor, understanding a sales contract, and negotiation and home inspection; and Home Ownership which includes what it means to be a home owner, how to care for your home and maintain it, security issues and avoiding foreclosure.
Participants in the workshop will be eligible for assistance from Manatee and Sarasota counties bond and/or grant programs for down payment and closing costs.
